OK Naledi

“Naledi’s confident, positive persona marks them as an experienced performer and musician.” – Capital Current

OK Naledi is a high energy, Queer, Afro Fusion music project featuring traditional sub-Saharan clean guitar lines, classic deep bass and movement-inspiring beats.

Emerging in February 2022, OK Naledi has had incredible performance opportunities and support. From major festival and showcase performances to award nominations. OK Naledi’s music video ‘do you feel’ was selected for screening at the 2023 Los Angeles Queer Film Festival. OK Naledi has received generous funding support from Canada Council for the Arts, Ontario Arts Council and the City of Ottawa to continue creating in this project. On March 4, 2023 OK Naledi released their first full length album with a sold out album release event at the National Arts Centre in Ottawa. OK Naledi is presenting themselves as an exciting up and coming artist to keep tabs on in the Canadian music landscape.

“Through the laughter and fluid sways of the crowd, Sunstrum’s presence enamoured event-goers. The night concluded with a standing ovation and encore.” –The Charleton on BONES NAC album release event

“Enchanting and captivating lyrics were a hallmark of the performance” Capital Current on 2024 Bluesfest performance

“There is a lot of complexity when it comes to being a visibly Queer, biracial, womxn, artist who grew up in Botswana but lives and creates Afro music in a Western demographic. It’s important for diasporic marginalized folks to stay connected to their heritage and roots and to push back from the ongoing pressure to assimilate and fit in. OK Naledi is my way of nurturing my identity and infusing it in my music” – Naledi Sunstrum
